Garlic Parmesan Cheese Bread

I like to use a good French loaf for this garlic bread.  Buy a nice crusty one from a good bakery like Acme or La Brea.  Baking it on a cookie tray in a hot oven really makes it nice and crispy, and it’s not oily.  You can also mix fresh or dried herbs into the butter.

1 stick of butter, at room temperature

1-2 tablespoons garlic powder

pepper and a little salt

¼ - ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (depends how cheesy you want it)

1 loaf of crusty French bread cut lengthwise

Oven preheated to 450.

In a small bowl, add butter, garlic powder, salt and pepper, and Parmesan and mix to combine.  Taste for seasoning and add as much garlic powder as you would like.

Place the bread halves on a large cookie tray, and spread the butter mixture evenly.

Place in oven and cook for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cut and serve.
